Ana Abad

En mayo, Qatar se adhirió al Protocolo de Madrid. In May Qatar adhered to the Madrid Protocol. The Madrid Protocol is one of the two treaties that compose the Madrid System for the international registration of trademarks.

With this accession, Qatar became the 115th member of the Madrid System.

As of 3 August, national trademark holders or applicants in Qatar will be able to use the Madrid System to extend protection of their mark simultaneously to 130 countries through a single international trademark application. The application will be filed in a single language, which can be English, French or Spanish, and a single fee will be paid in Swiss francs.

From that date, international trademark owners or applicants will be able to designate Qatar to extend protection of their trademark registrations.
